Ileana is one of the pioneers of Romania’s capital market, with over 32 years of experience in the field. She was part of the team established within the National Bank of Romania in 1992, with the mission to develop the future Romanian stock exchange.

Since 1995, she has been working at the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB), where she has gained extensive experience in corporate affairs. Throughout her career at BVB, she has served as the company’s General Secretary and later as Director, coordinating the listing of companies and intermediaries on BVB’s markets, shareholder relations, as well as marketing, communication, and international relations activities specific to the capital market. She has also led the corporate governance area, overseeing the development and implementation of the first BVB Corporate Governance Code in 2016. Currently, Ileana coordinates the listing department and the financial education program “Fluent in Finance”.

She holds an MBA in Finance from the Romanian-Canadian MBA Program, a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Banking from the Bucharest University of Economic Studies (ASE), and a Bachelor’s degree in Law and Administrative Sciences from the Dimitrie Cantemir Christian University. She is also a certified trainer accredited by ANC and currently a PhD candidate at ASE’s Doctoral School of Finance, with a research focus on corporate governance. Ileana has participated as lecturer or guest in numerous financial education initiatives organized by ASE, ASF, ISF, Deloitte, BISM, ASE-BUSS, and others. Since July 2024, she has been a lecturer at the Romanian Banking Institute. In January 2025, she completed the “Corporate Governance that Creates Value” program organized by Envisia in partnership with the Bucharest Stock Exchange, dedicated to preparing members of Boards of Directors.

Since 2016, Ileana has been actively involved as a volunteer in several associations, serving as President of Professional Women’s Network Romania (re-elected for a second term in April 2024), founder and former Vice President of the Association of Independent Directors, member of the Romanian Association of Financial-Banking Analysts (AAFBR), the Association of Legal Advisors in the Financial-Banking System (ACJSFB), and the Alumni Association of the Bucharest School of Business. Since 2024, she has also been an Ambassador of the #wearehalf community and a member of the Womanity network.

Ileana is a mentor within PWN Romania and has also served as a mentor in the Association for Values in Education (AVE). Since 2016, she has coordinated or co-coordinated five training programs within PWN Romania’s Women on Boards Academy, and since 2021, she has led the mentoring program dedicated to women aspiring to Board positions. Between 2017 and 2019, she represented ASEMER (the Association of Spanish Companies in Romania) within the Coalition for Romania’s Development, as part of the Financial Market and Corporate Governance Working Group.
