Emma Popa-Radu has been active in investments and Private Equity for over 20 years. She spent 17 years with Advent International, one of the largest and most experienced global private equity houses, of which 10 years as Managing Director, responsible for investments in Romania, and for a while, Turkey as well.
Emma has recently moved to angel investing.
Emma was responsible for a number of investments in Romania - mobile telephony, pharmaceuticals (generics), medical services, construction materials (paint, lacquers, adhesives and bricks), outdoor advertising, and Turkey - leasing, bread products and furniture. An important driver for these companies’ development was expansion through mergers and aquisitions, in the same industry or complementary segments, and new markets entry.
Emma Popa-Radu represented Advent International on a large number of Boards as non-executive director. Some of these are Terapia Cluj, Regina Maria, Deutek, Ceramica Iasi, Euromedia, Uno and Roma Plastik.
She is a member of the Young Presidents Organisation, having been active for 8 years on the Executive Committee.
Emma graduated from the International Economic Relations Faculty of the Academy for Economic Studies and attended a number of executive programs at Harvard, Stanford, Berkeley and London Business School.
She is fluent in English and French.
