Alex Popa is a global technology, venture, and growth investor. He spent the last sixteen years at The Capital Group, one of the world's largest and oldest investment firms, where he was a Partner and a Portfolio Manager for the Growth Fund of America, the largest actively managed fund in the world with over $200Bn AUM.
His earlier analyst coverage included North American railroads, insurance, and systemically important banks and financial institutions.
Prior to joining Capital, Alex held several positions in the Government of Romania. He served as Prime Minister’s adviser for economic affairs, as well as Secretary of State for Foreign Investments.
Alex received his MBA from Harvard Business School, with highest distinction as Baker and Loeb Scholars. He received MS and BAS degrees from Stanford, ranking first in his class as Henry Ford II Scholar.
Alex holds eight first prizes in national and international physics Olympiads and is passionate about next-gen financial infrastructure, global venture & growth investing, life sciences, policymaking, automobile racing, and skiing.
Alex has served on the boards of Stanford University Life Sciences, Harvard Business School, US Olympics' ACE Working Group, Wings for Life USA, Founding President - JCI Romania, and the Lundquist Institute. He is also a member of the Aspen Finance Leaders Fellows Class VI and the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
